Regular tests are an important tool to fight COVID-19. With the „Alles gurgelt!“ campaign, everyone in Vienna has the possibility of taking a PCR test for COVID-19 regularly and free of charge.

Taking tests on a regular basis ensures safety in everyday life – both in your private environment and at your workplace. Chains of infection can be broken quickly and efficiently only if a person knows that they are infected. The more people in Vienna undergo regular tests, the easier it will be to control COVID-19 and return to a normal everyday life. The medical report and the Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate (valid photo ID required!), showing the negative result, can also be used as an entrance test in accordance with current Covid regulations.

Any person staying in Vienna.

You can find all information about the “Alles gurgelt!” project at www.allesgurgelt.at There are instructions on how to register at the LEAD Horizon WebApp, where you will find your monthly barcode. You can have your barcode scanned at any BIPA shop in Vienna and receive 5 test sets per month.

The test corresponds to the highest medical standards, is painless, causes no complications and is evaluated in the certified Lifebrain COVID lab by means of the PCR procedure. It corresponds to the requirements defined by law. You will receive a medical report and a Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate issued by the lab. A medical report is issued if the person tested has verified their identity in advance via the web app before the test. The medical report contains the test result (positive/negative/indifferent). The Green Pass/EU Digital COVID Certificate can be used as an official certificate for trips abroad and as entrance test for official appointments, etc.

The medical report and the Green Pass can generally be used as valid certificates for trips abroad and are issued in German and English. Please check the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to before your departure (2G, 3G, gargle test, nose or throat swab, validity). Entry requirements vary by country.

Questions concerning the test procedure (28)

This test used is a PCR test by the LEAD Horizon company. Evaluation of the COVID-19 test by means of the PCR procedure allows for the detection of even minimal amounts of the virus and before the first symptoms occur. The PCR method is considered the reliable “gold standard” among COVID-19 tests and is well established internationally.

A web app will guide you through the test procedure. It works by means of self-testing: You rinse your mouth with a saline solution or gargle with it.

You can find the web app directly online at lead-horizon.org/public. You do not need to download any app. Optionally, you can also use the QR code that comes with the test set; in this way, you do not have to enter the lead-horizon.org/public link manually. This QR code can be found in the testing instructions.

No, you do not need to download an app. The web app described in this FAQ section is a website that you can access with all standard devices or operating systems (laptop/PC/smartphone/tablet) via your browser. Optionally, you can also use the QR code that comes with the test set; in this way, you do not have to enter the lead-horizon.org/public link. This QR code can be found in the testing instructions.

To get an exact test result, you should gargle in the morning after you get up and before you brush your teeth or have breakfast. This is an efficient way to ensure a reliable diagnosis of COVID-19. Gargling is the ideal method. Rinsing your mouth is the second best choice because it is not as efficient to detect the virus. If you find it difficult to gargle, you can also just rinse your mouth (e.g. children may find it easier to rinse their mouth and not gargle).

Gargling is the ideal method. Rinsing your mouth is the second best choice because it is not as efficient to detect the virus. If you find it difficult to gargle, you can also just rinse your mouth (e.g. children may find it easier to rinse their mouth and not gargle).

The big advantage of gargling is that the entire throat area comes into contact with the saline solution. As a result, a sample of the entire inside of the throat is taken and collected in the tube, while test staff can only take a sample of a very small area of the throat with the cotton tip. Moreover, gargling/rinsing permits taking a sample comfortably and reliably at home, which would be difficult with a throat swab.

The PCR method is very sensitive and therefore able to detect an infection several days, and at least 3 days, before any symptoms occur. This means that if you take a PCR test and this test is negative, it is extremely probable that you cannot infect others over the next 3 days. This creates a high level of safety for a longer period.

The test complies with the highest quality standards. The PCR tests are exclusively conducted by certified the certified COVID lab, checked by independent inspection authorities, hence ensuring very reliable results.

Contrary to antigen tests, which are conducted by taking a nose or throat swab and are often experienced as unpleasant, this self-test is completely painless. The sample is taken by the tested persons themselves by gargling (or rinsing the mouth) with a saline solution.

You can hand in the samples daily at any REWE outlet in Vienna (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA), at several ÖBB train stations – Wien Hauptbahnhof/Vienna Central Station, Wien Meidling (daily at the ticket office), Wien Westbahnhof and Wien Hauptbahnhof/Vienna Central Station (daily on workdays at the Reisezentrum/ticket office) – as well as on Sundays and public holidays at BP, JET, SHELL,OMV and ENI petrol stations* in Vienna. The Lifebrain Covid lab makes medical reports digitally available. As soon as the result is availableyou will receive an email containing a link that enables you to access the medical report by entering your date of birthfollowed by entering a PIN sent to your mobile phone number (two-factor authentication). The medical report can only be accessed via the medical report portalIt is NOT possible to send it by post.

Yes, according to the current state of knowledge. If your test result is positive, you can get more information on this from the public health authorities. The lab cannot provide any information in this case.

There is no age limit. Once a child is old enough to rinse their mouth with a saline solution and then spit the saliva through the transfer tube into the buffer tube, the test can be performed.

You can register additional family members, who do not have their own email address, under your profile for them to get tested. All you need to do is click on “Person hinzufügen” (“Add additional person”) under your profile in the LEAD Horizon web app under the question “Wer wird jetzt getestet” (“Who is taking the test?”) and add additional family members. Please note: You receive a separate email with a separate link for every result, which matches one specific sample number. If several persons get tested at the same time, you receive several emails and each email matches one specific sample number.

To get an exact test result, you should gargle in the morning after you get up and before you brush your teeth or have breakfast. This is an efficient way to ensure a reliable diagnosis of COVID-19.

If you were infected with COVID-19, you should not take this test as long as you are quarantined because your body may still retain a residual virus load. In Vienna, people can take the test with LEAD Horizon test kits as soon as their quarantine is over.

Vaccinated persons should continue to take the test in order to detect insufficient protection afforded by the vaccination as well as vaccination-resistant virus strains at an early date.

Both ingredients are safe for adults, children and pregnant women. Just rinse your mouth.

This is a solution of common cooking salt; swallowing it does not pose any health risk.

You must follow the testing instructions very precisely. Please closely follow the instructions that come with the test to avoid an incorrect test result.

In principle, samples can be stored for up to 7 days. However, the test should be returned for analysis as soon as possible to ensure rapid result delivery.

In case of a positive test result, the person tested is informed of this result via email. The labs are obligated under law to inform the health authority about every positive test result. The health authority will then contact you. Until this contact is established, please remain in self-isolation.

We strongly dissuade you from purchasing PCR tests or other COVID-19 tests via online marketplaces, as it is impossible to guarantee that these are genuine test sets as used by the “Alles gurgelt” project. In this case, moreover, you are running the risk of not knowing whether these test sets are still in their original packaging. All test sets produced after 23 February also contain the information that these tests are not for sale. A sufficient number of test sets is available free of charge at all BIPA outlets in Vienna; hence, it is not necessary to purchase them online.

Questions concerning the web app (40)

You will find the web app directly online at lead-horizon.org/public. You do not need to download any app. As an alternative, you can also scan the QR code included with the test set with the camera of your smartphone to access the web app. This QR code can be found in the testing instructions.

No, you do not need to download an app. The web app described in this FAQ section is a website that you can access with all standard devices or operating systems (laptop/PC/smartphone/tablet) via your browser. Optionally, you can also use the QR code that comes with the test set; in this way, you do not have to enter the lead-horizon.org/public link manually. This QR code can be found in the testing instructions.

No, use is free of charge.

The web app is available in the following languages: German, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Bulgarian, English, Hungarian, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish, and Turkish.

The QR code is in the self-test set packaging. The web app will open after scanning it with the camera of your smartphone. Of course, you can also access the website with your smartphone directly via your browser. For this, please enter the address printed on the packaging of your test set.

You can find your sample number on the test tube and on the information leaflet enclosed with your test set. This number always begins with LHI. Each sample number can only be used once.

When you take the test, you will be asked to scan a photo ID (passport, ID card, e-card) to verify your identity. If the scan was successful, you will be asked to allow access to your camera. This procedure has to be carried out only once when establishing your user profile. While conducting your COVID-19 test, four photos will be taken during the entire test procedure, which serves to prevent any sort of cheating or fraud during the test. The document number of your photo ID, which you scanned in the beginning of the procedure, will be shown on the medical report.

You do not necessarily need any proof of identity, and you can skip this step in the web app. This verification of identity is recommended if you need a medical report that can also be used as an entrance test (“green passport”). If you skip the verification of identity or if this verification is interrupted, you will still receive the test result after the test procedure was concluded, but you will not receive any valid medical report (“green passport”) that entitles you to go to a hair salon or use any other, similar services.

For the web app, the scanning function for passports, ID card or e-cards was integrated to ensure proof of identity. If the automatic scanning process does not work, you can choose to click on “zur manuellen Eingabe” (“manual data entry”) and enter your data manually and upload a photo of your personal ID document. At the moment, it is possible to scan passports, ID cards and e-cards, but no other forms of personal ID documents such as driving licences. If you have no document of the type mentioned above, please continue without proof of identity. You will still receive a test result, but no medical report and no Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate you can use for going to a hair salon or restaurant.

Please check whether you have allowed your device to use the camera. You can change this in the settings of your device. If you are using a company device, this problem may be due to the settings installed by your IT department. Please contact this department/the person in charge or use a different device. As an alternative, you can also perform the test without verification of identity. Please remember, however, that in this case you will not receive a medical report or a Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate.

Yes, you must state your social security number, if you have one. If you have no social security number, you must follow a specific procedure for entering your data: 0000+your date of birth in the day/month/year format (e.g. 0000241290).

Please recheck your data input. Maybe you have overlooked the how-to instructions in the web app. If you have a non-Austrian or no social security number, you must follow a specific procedure for entering your data: 0000+your date of birth in the day/month/year format (e.g. 0000241290).

In principle, it is not possible to evaluate a sample without use of the web app and, hence, without stating your data. In case of incomplete or missing data, samples will not be evaluated by the lab. If you have no possibility of handling the test digitally via web app, please contact the hotline 01/90 223.

LEAD Horizon stores the data of the test participants, their COVID-19 infection status as well as technical telemetry data necessary for the operation of the web app and for carrying out the tests. The data are stored by the German enterprise Hetzner Online GmbH, which operates an ISO-certified computing centre and deletes these data 14 days after delivery of the test result. LEAD Horizon communicates your social security number, name, phone number, postal address and email address to the Lifebrain COVID lab. The lab findings are submitted to the health authority and further processed as follows: All positive test results are communicated to the Epidemiological Information System of the City of Vienna, where they are stored and deleted after expiry of the prescribed retention period. nAll negative test results are communicated to the screening database of the City of Vienna, where they are stored and deleted after expiry of the prescribed retention period. The photos are viewed by selected staff members of LEAD Horizon for quality assurance purposes as well as in case of complaints. These data, too, are deleted 14 days after delivery of the test result.

Of course, your data will be treated confidentially and stored only for a short period (14 days) in order to be able to issue a medical report and a Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate on request as well as to be able to notify the health authority accordingly, as is mandatory under the Austrian Epidemics Act.

The test set manufacturer LEAD Horizon GmbH processes your data with your consent. Your data will be transmitted to the Lifebrain COVID lab, which further processes your data on its own responsibility. The Lifebrain COVID lab is obligated under the law to communicate the results to the competent health authority. Your data will not be disclosed to third parties.

No, REWE (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP, JET, SHELL and OMV petrol stations), ENI and ÖBB cannot view your data. Only the staff of the Lifebrain COVID lab and of the test set manufacturer LEAD Horizon have access to your data. Since data privacy is very important to us, we store your data for a period not exceeding 14 days. After this, the data are deleted.

The web app sends out the emails instantaneously. If you have tried to register via a company email address and have received no email, please contact your in-house IT department. It might be that your firewall is blocking the service@lead-horizon.org sending address. Another possibility is that the email has ended up in your spam folder – please check this, too. If several minutes have gone by without your receiving an email either in your inbox or in your spam folder, this may be because your server (including e.g. GMX, Yahoo, etc.) retrieves emails sent to you at longer intervals and not continuously. In this case, please wait or select “Verifizierungsmail überspringen“ (“Skip verification email”) in the email verification. If you have an alternative email address, please use it.

If you have submitted proof of your identity, you will always receive two emails, which arrive more or less at the same time. One contains a notice from LEAD Horizon to enable you to retrieve your test result. The other email contains a link by the Lifebrain COVID lab to retrieve your medical report and Green Pass. You can also download the certificate via the LEAD Horizon WebApp. If you click on the link, you will be asked to enter your date of birth and then a PIN, which will be sent to your mobile phone number (two-factor identification). Then you will be able to download the medical report via a secure connection.

When establishing your user profile, you must enter your phone number twice in order to avoid transposition errors, such as reversed digits or similar. The system has automatic country identification and automatic error correction when entering an international country code. Together with the link you receive in the email from the Lifebrain COVID lab, you will also see the phone number to which the text message for secure registration is sent. Please check this phone number for correctness. If you have entered an incorrect number, please use the following web form – https://allesgurgelt.at/wien/feedback/ – or contact the service hotline 01/90 223 to open a ticket for error rectification. Test results can only be delivered if the phone number entered is the correct one. If you already have a user profile and have entered an incorrect phone number for the current test, please enter the correct phone number when taking your next test by clicking on “Wer wird jetzt getestet” (“Who is taking the test?”) under “Persönliche Daten ändern” (“Change personal data”). This is the only way to make sure that your change of phone number will be valid for all future tests.

It is important to input the data in the correct order. This means that you have to enter first the city/town, the street name and the postal code. Then the system will automatically suggest an existing address with the help of Google. Select this address and only then enter e.g. the number of your flat and/or “Stiege” (building unit). If you enter your flat number before this, Google may not be able to recognise your address and, thus, will not suggest one, resulting in a system error.

Another reason might be that you have not completed the entry of your data in the web app. You should have received a confirmation email from LEAD Horizon with the note “All done!”. Results can only be delivered if all data were entered correctly. For further information on emails, see the question “I have received no email when registering – what is the problem?”.

The link to the lab report leads to a PDF file. Any device that is able to open a PDF file should also be able to open the lab report. If it is still not possible to open the report on your mobile phone, you have the option of opening the email on a computer and following the link to the lab report there. If you have conducted the process via the phone hotline, you can request your test result there.

If you have skipped the identity check or if the identity check was interrupted, you will still receive a test result, but no medical lab report and no Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate.

In case of a positive test result, the person tested is informed via email. The Lifebrain Covid Lab is obligated under law to inform the health authority of every positive test result. The health authority will then contact you. Until this contact is established, please remain in self-isolation.

Yes, the test set corresponds to all legal requirements of the Austrian COVID-19 Entry Regulation dated 5 January 2021. The test procedure by means of throat rinsing was designated as a recommended procedure by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Yes, the “Alles gurgelt” medical report is recognised as Green Pass and can therefore be used as an entrance test in accordance with current Covid regulations. A medical report is issued if the person tested has verified their identity in advance via the web app before the test. A photo of the document (passport, photo ID, etc.) is taken during the test procedure. After the test result has become available, the document scanned at the beginning is printed on the medical report, which can be optionally downloaded.

The Lifebrain COVID lab makes medical reports digitally available. As soon as the result is available, you will receive an email containing a link that enables you to access the medical report by entering your date of birth and a PIN, which will be sent to your mobile phone (two-factor authentication) to download the medical report. It is not possible to send the report by post.

Yes, you can either use the Green Pass (issued by the Lifebrain COVID lab as well as by LEAD Horizon) or the medical report showing the negative test result for services in accordance with current Covid regulations.

The test set complies with all legal requirements. The product is a set for independent sample collection at home, but the PCR test itself is carried out in a lab. After evaluation of your sample, you will receive a medical laboratory report and the Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate, which you can use as an “entrance test”.

Yes, the medical report, showing the negative result, can also be used as an entrance test to visit relatives at retirement and nursing homes. The moment of sample collection is used to calculate the period of validity. Therefore, if you have collected the sample on Monday at 8 a.m., the result of your test is valid (retroactively) from this moment. For this reason, we recommend that you hand in your sample as soon as possible after performing the test. Please refer to current Covid regulations for the exact period of validity of your test result.

You receive your test result in the form of a medical report as well as the Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate via the medical report portal of the Lifebrain COVID lab. The medical report shows medical information about the test result and can currently be used as an entrance test under the 3G rule. The EU Digital Covid Certificate contains a QR code, which can be read automatically and efficiently and can therefore be used as an entrance test. You can also download the Green Pass/EU Digital Covid Certificate via the LEAD Horizon web app.

Please ignore the text asking you to enclose an examination request. The procurement of materials for the „Alles gurgelt!“ campaign has to make use of the resources available. Please do not enclose either your testing instructions or any other documents, but just follow the web app instructions/the enclosed instructions.

The VACUETTE® (=test tube) can now be used for 12 instead of 9 months. You can therefore use the test tube for up to 3 months after the expiration date.

The information on the package (4 to 25 degrees Celsius) refers to long-term storage. It is no problem if this temperature is exceeded for a short time.

Pupils (20)

When you do the test at home, follow the instructions of the web app (lead-horizon.org/public) and hand in your test kit at any REWE outlet in Vienna (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs). You can also hand in your test kit at school. Please make sure that you do the identity check when you take the test using the web app.

When you enter your personal data, please make sure that you have selected the correct school and class. Otherwise, your teachers will not be able see your result. By stating your school and class, you agree that your school will be access to your test result. If you don’t want that, do not state your school and class. In this case, you have to prove your test status in a different way.

When you do the test at school, your identity is confirmed by your teacher. At school, you rinse your mouth with the saline solution from the test kit for a minute. Then you use the transfer tube to get the liquid into the sample tube and close it with the red cap. Put the sample tube and the cellulose into the protective bag, seal the bag with the adhesive strip and put it back into the box. Your teacher will link your personal QR code with your sample number on the user instruction leaflet. Please keep the leaflet with the sample number (and the date and your name on it).

Then you hand in your test kit at school and you will receive the result by email by the next school day. If you haven’t provided your email address, your teachers or school management team will tell you the result.

If you take the test at school, you don‘t need the web app. You take the test in class and your teacher links your personal data with your sample number.

When you hand in the consent form signed by your parents (when you are 14 years or older you can sign the consent form yourself), your school uploads your personal data into the system. If you provide an email address, you will receive a personal QR code, which contains your data. You can use this QR code to link your personal data in the web app (lead-horizon.org/public) with your school. If you have not yet received a personal QR code, you can register via the web app (lead-horizon.org/public) and state your school and class when taking a test. When you take the test at school, your QR code is linked with your sample number and creates the data record, which is used by the laboratory to analyse your sample.

When you take the tests at home, you need your personal QR code to link your data from the web app with your school. You will receive your QR code by email, as soon as your school has uploaded your data and your email address. If you have not yet received a QR code, you can select the name of your school and class. After having entered your QR code and/or the name of your school and class, take the test and prove your identity for that purpose. After testing you can hand in your sample at school or at any REWE outlet in Vienna (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs).

When your school has uploaded your personal data, your personal QR code will be sent to your email address. When you take a new test using the web app go to “Change personal data” and state that you are testing through a school. Now you can scan your QR code or enter the 16-digit code below your QR code. Then you take the test and provide proof of your identity.

When you test at home you have access to the dashboard with your test history. There you can also access your test results. You can take a new test any time.

A QR code encodes data and shows them again when the code is scanned. You can scan the QR code with the camera of your mobile phone. Your personal QR code contains your data, which your school has uploaded to the system. Below your QR code you will find a 16-digit code, which is your QR code in digits.

Before your first school day, you can enter the details of your school and class and take a test via the web app. Then your school will already see your test results before school has started. Once school has started, your school will upload your and your classmates’ data in a class list, if you have given your consent. When your data have been uploaded, a personalised QR code will be sent to the email address you have provided. Then you can enter your QR code in the web app and link it with your school.

At school start, your school will again upload your data in a collective class list, if you have given your consent. The system will then create a QR code, which contains your personal data. The code will be sent to you automatically by email and your school will also receive your code. You can use this QR code for all future tests either at school with the help of your teacher or at home via the web app (lead-horizon.org/public). The QR code enables quick and easy testing.

You will receive your QR code by email, as soon as your school has uploaded the class list with your personal data. For this purpose, your parents must have given their consent beforehand. If you are 14 years or older, you can give consent yourself. Only your school can create the QR code. It allows your teachers to view your current test status at any time. Thus, you can do quick and easy testing at school or at home and you don’t have to show your result at school every time.

No, your data in the web app will not be overwritten or deleted. When you have entered your QR code in the web app, these data will be the main source of information for your school.

Please tell your class teacher or your school management team to correct the data in the system. The data stored in the QR code will then be updated automatically when you take your next test.

If you or your parents have provided an email address, you will get your test result by email. If your test is positive, i.e. if you have the coronavirus, you must not come to school. If you haven’t provided an email address, your school will call you or your parents. Otherwise, you can ask your school about your test result.

Yes, you will obtain the medical report and a link for the “Green Passport” by email. If you haven’t provided an email address, you can ask your school about your test result. Please note that you will not obtain a medical report or a link for the “Green Passport”, if you have not provided an email address.

If you don’t have an email address, please take the tests at school. Your school administers your data and can tell you your test results. Please note that you will not obtain a medical report or a link for the “Green Passport”, if you have not provided an email address.

If you want to give your school access to your data and test results and if you want to make use of the option to test at school, you need to hand in a consent form signed by your parents. If you are 14 years or older you can sign the consent form yourself.

If you test at home, you can hand in your test kit at any REWE outlet in Vienna (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs). It’s best to hand in your test kit before 9 am or before 2 pm. You can also hand in your test kit at school before 8:30 am. If you test at school, you can hand in your test kit at school or at any REWE outlet in Vienna (collection times at 9 am and at 2 pm). Please pay attention to the collection days and times at your school.

Pupils in Years 1-4 cannot participate in the “Alles gurgelt” programme. They can take part in the “Alles spült” programme.

If you have the camera on while testing (and prove your identity), this serves as confirmation that it was actually you who has taken the test. Another advantage of proving your identity is that you will obtain a medical report and a link for the “Green Passport” which can be used as an entry certificate.

The QR code and an official photo ID have to be scanned only once before you start testing. You can add your QR code to your personal data in the web app by choosing “Change personal data”. After entering your QR code you have to scan an official photo ID. Then you can continue with the test. You only have to do this one time. When you take your next test, select your last set of data under “Who is taking the test” and turn your camera on to start testing.

Teachers (23)

Your school’s management team will email the access link to the teachers and staff. You can use this link to register for the dashboard. When your registration is approved by the school management team you will be given access to the dashboard.

Use the email address you have received from your school. You have already used your school email address to register in our web app (lead-horizon.org/public) as a teacher? Then please log into your account first and click “Change email address” in your dashboard. Please enter a different email address, because it is not possible to access both systems with the same email address.

Once you have registered, your school’s management team will activate your account. After activation, you will receive an email to confirm that you are able to log in.

Log in with your school email address and the password, which you have used for registration.

2-factor authentication allows the secure authentication of your personal identity. When logging into our web app with your email address, the system asks you first to enter a password and then an access code.

Click “Testing” to start the testing process. Scan a pupil’s QR code and confirm that the right pupil is taking the test. Alternatively, you can enter the 16-digit numerical code below the QR code in the field. After clicking “Confirm”, you scan the sample number on the user instruction leaflet and click “Continue”. If the scan function does not work, you can also enter the pupil’s name and the sample number manually.

No, only the school’s management team or the class teacher are authorised to do so.

As a teacher you can test pupils, view their test history and search by first names, last names and class. Under “Manage people” you can view and download QR codes. In addition, you can activate your role as a class teacher, if you take over a class.

No, only the school’s management team and class teachers are authorised to do so.

The QR codes are generated when the school’s management team or class teachers upload the class lists. You will find the QR codes under “Manage people” by selecting “Show QR codes”.

You will find the web app at lead-horizon.org/login/tester. An app is not required for that purpose.

No, you don’t have to download an app. You can access the school web app at lead-horizon.org/login/tester. You can open the website via your browser on all common devices (smartphone/laptop/tablet/PC) and operating systems.

The Lifebrain laboratory provides the medical reports digitally. When your result is available you will receive an email containing a link which you can use to retrieve the medical report and the certificate for the “Green Passport”/EU Digital COVID Certificate by entering your mobile phone number (2-factor authentication). You can also download the certificate via the LEAD Horizon web app. The medical report is only available via the Lifebrain portal and will NOT be sent by post!

We recommend that pupils provide their email addresses for the test results to be sent to them and/or their parents. If a pupil has not provided an email address they can obtain their test result from the school’s management team, their class teacher and/or teachers.

If pupils use the web app for testing, they need to prove their identity in order to be shown in the school web app. Pupils’ identity can only be confirmed if they prove their identity when testing (testing in front of their camera).

The web app is available in German and English.

You will find your sample number on the sample tube and the user instruction leaflet in the test kit. The sample number begins with LHI. Each sample number can only be used once.

The laboratory needs to know if the person taking the test has been infected with the coronavirus within the past 2 months, as this can influence laboratory processes. If you link your pupils’ data for the first time, you will be asked about their previous infection status. If pupils are testing regularly, this question will not be asked any more. Only after a 10-day break in testing, the question will be asked again.

The QR code and an official photo ID have to be scanned only once before you start testing. You can add your QR code to your personal data in the web app by choosing “Change personal data”. After entering your QR code you have to scan an official photo ID. Then you can continue with the test. You only have to do this one time. When you take your next test, select your last set of data under “Who will be tested” and turn your camera on to start testing.

Pupils in Years 1-4 are tested under the “Alles spült” programme. They can take part in the “Alles gurgelt” programme on a voluntary basis.

No, you don’t have to use the school web app to administer these pupils, as they will also use their own web app when taking the test at school.

No, the school does not need to phone pupils who have tested negative to inform them about their test result.

The test kits that have been handed in at school will be collected from Monday to Thursday at 8:30 am and optionally also on Friday at 1:30 pm and 4 pm. If pupils have not been able to hand in their test kits in time for collection at school, they can hand them in at any REWE outlet in Vienna (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs). Collection times there are 9 am and 2 pm.

Class teachers (14)

Your school’s administrator will send you the link by email. Once you have registered, the administrator has to accept you as a tester.

Use the email address you have received from your school. You have already used your school email address to register in our web app (lead-horizon.org/public) as a teacher? Then please send a short email to schultestungen@lead-horizon.com and we will switch your account to a new email address. It is not possible to use one email address for different accounts.

That depends on your school administrator. As soon as you have created your account, your school administrator will be notified and has to activate your account once.

This is to make sure that your account will not be abused and to provide protection against unauthorised access to the platform.

As a class teacher, you can upload, edit, view and delete your class’s data and view their test results. Of course, you can also link pupils’ QR codes with their sample numbers. And you can conduct tests.

To activate the class teacher function, log in and select “Manage people”. Here you can upload class data records and data of individual pupils, and you can activate the class teacher function. Please note: This function is not activated by default. You need to activate it by clicking “I am a class teacher”.

If there has been some mistake when uploading a class, the incorrect data records will be indicated in the confirmation email. Simply correct them and upload them again.

Under “Manage people” you can search for data records of individual pupils. If there are any changes to pupils’ data, select “Edit” to modify the data.

The QR codes are generated when the school’s management team or class teachers upload the class lists. You will find the QR codes under “Manage people” by selecting “Show QR codes”.

If pupils or their parents or guardians have provided an email address, they will be informed about the positive test result by email. Pupils who have tested positive are not allowed to enter the school premises. If a pupil has tested positive and has not provided an email address, the school is responsible for contacting the pupil and/or their parents/guardians. Pupils who have tested positive are not allowed to enter the school premises and should self-isolate immediately.

If pupils use the web app for testing, they need to prove their identity in order for them to be shown in the school web app. Pupils’ identity can only be confirmed if they prove their identity and turn on their mobile phone camera when testing.

To become the class teacher of a new class, select “Manage people” and then “Yes, change class”. Now you can enter the name of your new class and upload the class list. Please note that when changing your class as a class teacher, the class list previously stored will be deleted in the background and will no longer be displayed in the system.

Administrators (14)

You will get the access link from LEAD Horizon (platform operator) by email.

As an administrator you can upload, edit, view and delete the data of all your school’s classes and view their test results. Of course, you can also link pupils’ QR codes with their sample numbers.

You will find the web app at lead-horizon.org/login/institution. An app is not required for that purpose.

No, you don’t have to download an app. You can access the school web app at lead-horizon.org/login/institution. You can open the website via your browser on all common devices (smartphone/laptop/tablet/PC) and operating systems.

When entering the web app, you will find a button “Start new test” directly on the homepage. First, scan the QR code or search for the pupil’s name. If this is the first test the pupil is taking, you will be asked to enter the pupil’s infection status, i.e. if the pupil has been infected with the coronavirus in the last 2 months. As a next step you will be asked to enter the sample number. You can enter the sample number either manually or use the scan function. Now the data linking process is completed. You can then either link the next data record with a test kit or leave the “Testing” section.

For this purpose, go to “Manage testers” at the top right, copy the link shown there and send it to all colleagues who are to use the system. As soon as they have accepted your invitation, you only have to confirm their access on this page.

For this purpose, go to “Manage people”. There you will also find a list of all people who have already been assigned to your school. Click the button “Upload” to download the sample file (at “Download sample CSV”). Please note that the class list needs to be uploaded exactly in this format. Please prepare the CSV files for each class, enter the name of the relevant class under “For which class do you want to upload data” and select the required document. When clicking “Upload file” you will be asked for confirmation. Should there be any incorrect data records, you will be notified by email. Otherwise, all data records will be stored in the system and you can view, edit or delete them. Uploading the data will also create the personal QR codes, which you and your colleagues can use for linking the test data.

Check your email inbox to see which data records are incorrect. If the data of individual pupils are incorrect, you can manually upload the individual pupils via “Manage people” and “Create data record”. If the data records of several pupils are incorrect, you can edit the excel file and re-upload the class list in CSV file format. Please note that you have to re-upload the whole class list. Once you have re-uploaded the whole class list, a new QR code will be generated and emailed to all pupils who had already received a QR code previously.

If you have logged into your platform, please go to “Home”. There you will always find your school’s positive test results on top of the page. All pupils who have provided an email address have also been notified about the result. All other, negative test results will be shown below or you can view them filtered for example by class using the search function.

Your colleagues can either use the web app at home by entering their school and class under “Staff” or use the school web app. For this purpose, go to “Manage people”, where you will also find a list of all people who have already been assigned to your school. Click the “Upload” button to download the sample file under “Download sample CSV”. Please note that you have to upload the class list exactly in this format. Please prepare a CSV file, enter “Personal” (“staff”) under “For which class do you want to upload data” and select the document. When clicking on “Upload file” you will be asked for confirmation. If there are any incorrect data records, you will be notified by email. Otherwise, all data records will be stored in the system and you can view, edit or delete them. Uploading the data will also create the personal QR codes, which you and your colleagues can use for linking the test data.

Additional test kits will be delivered 2-3 days after they have been ordered.

The aim is to create a collection rhythm for each school to ensure continued testing. In the pilot phase daily collection is possible until a rhythm has been established.

Generally, the samples should be handed in separately. Staff screening samples will still need to be entered into the IT system before they are collected. However, if individual samples, which have already been entered into the system have been put into the school collection boxes, this should not be a problem. Since staff screening logistics were not designed for the scale of the “Alles gurgelt” programme, it is not possible to hand over large amounts of “Alles gurgelt” samples to the staff screening courier.

No, all outlets which are located near schools and where test kits can be picked up have been informed and have received a larger number of test kits for distribution. Schools have also obtained spare test kits for emergencies.

General (22)

Yes, the system also accepts residential addresses from other federal provinces.

Unused test kits should not be stored outdoors and should be kept away from direct sunlight.

Samples should not be stored at school. Pupils who have missed collection time at school can hand in their samples at all REWE outlets (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs) in Vienna (collection times are at 9 am and 2 pm). Uncooled samples can be stored for 12 hours, but ideally, they should be handed in as soon as possible after testing.

Pupils need to take a PCR test in time for their result to be available on the day they attend school.

The models have been developed to point out options. They can be extended. It is possible to change the schedule to Mon/Wed/Fri for shift operation. If you want to change your testing days, please inform the project team (coronaverdacht@bildung-wien.gv.at) and the logistics partner.

In this case, samples should not be handed in at school but at a REWE outlet (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs).

In order to be allowed to attend school on Monday, samples can be handed in at a REWE outlet near the city boundary or pupils can bring written proof of having taken a test in their own federal province (e.g. at a testing centre or pharmacy).

Pupils who live in other federal provinces or leave Vienna for the weekend need a valid test certificate, i.e. the certificate still has to be valid on the day they attend school. For information on different testing facilities in Austria please visit www.oesterreich.gv.at or https://oesterreich-testet.at. Antigen tests are valid for 48 hours and PCR tests are valid for 48 or 72 hours (www.sozialministerium.at/Informationen-zum-Coronavirus/). Exceptions need to be justified. The simple fact that a pupil who lives in Vienna lacks the motivation to hand in a test sample is no plausible reason for making an exception. In this case, pupils may take an antigen self-test in order to attend school. Otherwise, attendance can be refused.

PCR tests are valid for 48 or 72 hours after the sample has been taken. The exact period of validity is indicated on the medical report. Schools only have to check whether a test is valid at the time school starts in the morning. If a test’s validity expires during the school day, pupils are still allowed to stay at school.

No, tests have to be valid only at the beginning of school or after-school care. Epidemiologically, it does not make a difference whether the test is valid for the entire day or not. For this reason, pupils do not need to be sent home, if the validity of their tests expires during the day.

Generally, testing should be done at home. If due to your testing schedule, testing takes place on a Friday afternoon, please make sure to avoid that several people are gargling indoors at the same time. (It would be better to gargle outdoors keeping a sufficient distance from each other.) It is important to take off masks while gargling. Pupils can wear them before and after, but not while they gargle. Pupils might choke should they accidentally swallow down the wrong tube or need to vomit.

No, currently samples can only be handed in at REWE outlets (BILLA, BILLA PLUS, PENNY, BIPA, BP MERKUR inside, JET BILLA STOP&SHOP, SHELL BILLA Unterwegs) in Vienna.

No, you have to take the test in front of a camera in order to obtain a certificate.

In this case, the COVID-19 regulations for schools apply. Pupils who do not provide a negative test result are not allowed to attend school. They are not allowed to enter the school premises. In justified exceptions, pupils can provide written proof of a test taken for example at a test centre or pharmacy, instead of a PCR test.

There is no exact list of exceptions. Particularly in the pilot phase, schools can define their own criteria to assess individual cases. Excuses such as “my dog has eaten my mobile phone” or “I didn’t feel like handing in my sample on Saturday” are not sufficient. The reasons must be credible and must be documented should pupils be allowed to take an antigen self-test.  Alternatively, pupils can also provide written proof of a test taken for example at a testing centre or pharmacy.

No, please do not make any exceptions. You should insist on PCR tests. Simultaneously, you should try to settle the problem using the models. Please avoid the development of a hybrid system and use antigen self-tests only if it is absolutely necessary.

Not taking part in PCR testing is equivalent to refusing a test under the previous testing system. In justified exceptions, a PCR test may be replaced by an antigen self-test.

In justified exceptions, pupils may take anterior nasal self-tests at school or provide written proof of a valid test result (e.g. from a testing centre or pharmacy.

Yes, in the case of pupils who require special-needs support and who cannot be reasonably expected to take tests at school, parents or other caregivers can conduct the test at home. If a pupil has a medical certificate which confirms that they cannot be reasonably expected to take part in this kind of testing, it is the parents’ or guardians’ responsibility to conduct a different test of equal or higher quality and provide proof of the test result. If testing is not possible (medical certificate), the school has to take appropriate measures to minimise the other pupils’ risk of infection.

No, the COVID-19 regulations for schools set out that antigen self-tests must be used as entry tests for schools. An exception is only made for the 10 pilot schools and only for secondary stage II.

Yes, everybody can take PCR tests – also as part of the “Alles gurgelt” programme – in addition to the antigen self-tests which are used as entry tests for schools. However, PCR tests can only be taken in addition to and not instead of the antigen self-tests. Pupils who only provide a negative PCR test result, even if it is still valid, are not allowed to attend school. They always require an antigen self-test for this purpose.

In order to ensure a secure uniform procedure for all final-year pupils, schools have to implement the general regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention measures for the university entrance exams 2022.
